Steps to take

  1. If a payment or account is at risk, contact the relevant bank or service provider immediately; an IC3 complaint does not replace that urgent step.
  2. Gather a timeline, names and contact methods, payment references, URLs, and copies of messages. Only submit information through the official IC3 form.
  3. Go directly to ic3.gov and choose File a Complaint. Complete the required fields accurately; the form explains which fields are optional.
  4. Keep a copy or reference of your submission. IC3 analyzes and may refer reports, but filing does not guarantee an investigation or recovery.

Information to prepare

  • Timeline, losses, and transaction information
  • Suspect contact details and website addresses
  • Copies of related messages
